Closed captioning on Westinghouse LVM-42w2 42 in. HDTV-Ready LCD Television

    Hi,
I am trying to see if I can get closed captioning on this monitor.
I am using a comcast receiver. Is there a way to have closed
captioning when the TV is muted or some other button either on the
Remote or the comcast receiver remote?

    Thanks.

If you are using a digital cable set top box, you turn on the
captioning at the cable box, not the TV. Look at the set up menus for
    the cable box.

If the cable box is a Motorola HD-DVR or STB, you most likely have to
turn the box off, press menu on the remote to bring up the set up menu.
There will be a caption on/off option on the menu under the 16:9 HD and
4:3 Override SD formats. The software for the Motorola boxes do not
allow you to easily turn on or off the captioning without going into the
set up menu. For the digital SD channels, if your monitor does not have
CC, you will have to set the 4:3 Override to 480p output. Again this is
only for the Motorola's boxes, if your is Scientific Atlanta, the
captions can be turn on/off more easily.

BTW, you do have your monitor hooked up with component, DVI or HDMI
cables, correct? Composite or S-Video cables are SD only. Just checking.
